Jesus really loves his Father, God. He loves him despite the fact that his Father has become a dejected, isolated, rude, lazy noodle that despises humanity, his supposed perfect creation. So, he does what any good son would do, and hosts an intervention for his Father in a rec center. The plan is this: send the Almighty Father back to Earth, stripped of his power, in hopes that he rekindles his love for humanity (and becomes less of a dick in the process).
